The Nevada Cubs JV volleyball coach, Olivia Denham, is enjoying Nevada in her first year at the school.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better first year coaching experience, ” said Denham.

The girls this year have been working really hard at practice and doing well in their tournaments. They have gotten second place in two of their tournaments, and have won the other four of them.

They take their practice time seriously and focus on making not only themselves better, but giving the varsity a good look to help them prepare for their big games.

The JV team is made up of 10 young ladies, eight of them are on varsity as well. The girls that are also on varsity are Maddie Dunham, Mayzi Weig, Bridget Patterson, Ashlynn Sporrer, Shelbi Hazlitt, Katelyn Kingsbury, Madison McGaffin, and Aubrey Gibson. The two other ladies that pitch in to the JV team are freshmen Emma DePenning and Avery Hinson. They both play on the JV reserve team, and play in the JV tournaments.

Denham said, “I am so lucky to have the opportunity to coach such a great group of young ladies.”

The Cubs are looking to keep working hard and getting better throughout the season. “They are absolutely amazing all around, as athletes and students, they are hard workers and they work so well together,” said Denham. They are looking forward in the season and expecting success all year.
