For three days, May 16-18, the boys track team traveled down to Drake to run on the blue oval. The weather wasn’t great for the athletes – very hot on Thursday and pouring rain for most of the rest of the weekend.

Results from Thursday, May 16:

200 Meter Dash – Caeden DaSilva, 19th, 23.42

100 Meter Dash – Jakob Strottman, 19th, 11:58

400 Meter Dash – Carter Franzen, 16th, 52.83

Results from Friday, May 17:

Long Jump – Sam Abraham, 14th, 19′ 9 ½”

4×200 Meter Relay – Caeden DaSilva, Sam Abraham,  Jakob Strottman, Joven Nelson, 3rd, 1:30.64

400 Meter Hurdles – Joven Nelson , STATE CHAMPION, 52.02 in the 9th fastest 400 meter hurdles time in state history

Boys 4×100 Meter Relay – Caeden DaSilva, Dylan Jensen, Jakob Strottman, Joven Nelson, 44.06

7th fastest qualifying time for Saturday’s finals.

Sprint Medley – Caeden DaSilva, Dylan Jensen, Jakob Strottman, Joven Nelson, 4th, 1:33.59 NEW SCHOOL RECORD

4×100 Meter Finals – Caeden DaSilva, Dylan Jensen, Jakob Strottman, Joven Nelson, 6th, 43.94

Jakob Strottman said, “Overall, state went pretty well. Joven went off in the 400 low hurdles and beat his record. We had some successes, and I think this year’s experience for the younger kids will give them the drive to go back to state next year and be even more successful.”
