On Saturday, December 1, the JV wrestling team competed at the Des Moines North tournament. Zach Stinn, Holden Fry, Luke Schmitz, and Camdan Vincent all wrestled.

“Our wrestlers went out and did what they needed to do, and I feel that a few of them learned from their mistakes in order to continue to improve,” said Coach Larry Stufflebeam.

Zach Stinn went 0-3 for the day but played a huge role in the team by fighting hard in all of his matches and scoring key points.

Holden Fry went 2-1 at the meet and placed second in the tournament. Holden made some great improvements as the day progressed. In his first match Matthew Nelson from Ankeny won by fall but Holden put forth great effort making him work for it. Holden then came back against his next two opponents and pinned both of them.

Luke Schmitz went 2-1 for the day and earned a second place finish. As this is Luke’s first year wrestling in high school, Coach Stufflebeam saw a lot of potential in him at the beginning of the year and he has came through in each match. Luke won by fall in both the matches he won.

Camdan Vincent went 1-3 and took home third place.

“Camdan shows some great potential for this season as a freshman and continues to improve each match that he wrestled,” said Coach Stufflebeam.

Overall the Cubs had a great day at the tournament, and Coach Stufflebeam is excited to continue on with the rest of the season.
