On May 18th, the Nevada boys varsity soccer team played against Newton. The Cubs lost 2-4 but they played well and controlled the ball most of the game. The Cubs had 26 shots and 16 were on goal. The team was just unlucky that more shots didn’t reach the back of the net.

Jose Buenrrostro and Anthony Ellis each scored one goal. Others who played well were Carter Bremer, Kody Kruschwitz, Jacob Sanders, Jose Buenrrostro, and Taylor Maiefski.

At the end of the first half, the Cubs had trouble defending Newton’s forward and had to make adjustments later on.

Coach ToddSampson said, “Going in to sub-state we really need to focus on continuing to communicate well, move the ball, and take shots when we have opportunities.  We also need to play with great confidence for the entire 80 minutes of a game. This group has the chance to have a great end to their season, and we are looking forward to our games this week”.
