The middle school girls track team had a meet at Norwalk on Monday, April 23rd.

It was a great night to run, and there is great competition at the meet. There were two seperate lineups for 7th grade and 8th grade, so there were many opportunities for kids to run.

Coach Lori Stephenson said, “It is really fun for Coach Neubauer and I to see the growth that the girls are making. We had quality performances out of a lot of girls, and several had PRs at the meet.”

7th Grade

Allison Kruzich lowered her 800 time by  a second and got third running a 2:49.8. Kaleigh Groat continues to improve her time in the 800, having a strong and ran a 3:10. Mallory Mills really attacked the hurdles in the 200 meter hurdles. Natalie Barber and Emma DePenning had a good handoff in the sprint medley relay. Avery Hinson is one of just a couple girls who can four step the entire flight of hurdles in the 100 meter hurdles and ran a really nice leg of the shuttle hurdle relay.  Ella Check competed in the high jump for the first time and jumped 4’3″.

8th Grade

Alex Arnaud won her heat in the 100 meter hurdles with a season team best of 18.34. The 4×200 relay team of Hannah Waldera, Alexis Bartmess, Sarah Sullivan, and Jessica Myers had great handoffs and ran a really nice race.

Alex Arnaud placed third in the shot put and Maddie Dunham was fourth. Elie Tuhn was fifth in the 1500 meter run, and the 4×100 team of Savannah Skaggs, Alex Arnaud, Tessa Borwick, and Mayzi Weig placed fifth, too.

The eighth grade meet highlight was the win by the distance medley relay team.  Savannah Skaggs, Alex Arnaud, Tessa Borwick, and Mayzi Weig took three seconds off their best time and won by a great margin in 4:47.8.
