On February 1, the JV boys basketball team faced South Hamilton. The Cubs walked away with a win, 57-24.

The leading scorers were Henry Nelson with 10, and Thomas Crawford and Kody Kruschwitz with eight each. Chase Lycke and Jack Cahill also played well, scoring six points each.

Coach Greg Baethke said, “I don’t remember specific plays that played a big part, but the biggest part of the win is the way we played defense. We were able to hold the Hawks to five points in the first quarter and 17 points in the first half.”

The Cubs had a 31-18 lead at half time, and held the Hawks to only scoring six points in the entire second half.

A big goal for this game was to work on all the team and each player’s individual skills.  Coach Baethke was very pleased with how well the Cubs played defensively.

“The big difference was everyone playing defense the entire game. We can always improve each and every practice but at this point, we are playing well on both the defensive and offensive side of the ball.”
