The Nevada 7th Grade boys played against North Polk in Alleman, the Cubs got beat 5-48. North Polk had a much more seasoned basketball team.

“Our guys weren’t focused on the things we could control,” said Coach Cary Thompson.  “Aggressiveness and knowledge of the game will come with experience, but some of our leaders need to become more team-oriented on both sides of the court.”

North Polk had an early lead. At the end of the first quarter they were up 2-12.

“The second quarter was a gut check for us,” said Coach Thompson. The Comets led the rest of the game.

Leading scorers for the Cubs were Karter Beving and Cade Knopp with two points each. Carson Mathers also contributed with one. The Cub’s first team is now 2-2 on the season.

In the second game, the Cubs started off slowly. The coaches were happy with them in the second half of the game because of how hard they played. Carson Mathers had 11 points. Dallas Stanley and Peyton Mosinki both had two each. The B team is now 1-3 on the season.
