The varsity boys’ basketball team played Roland Story in Story City on Friday, January 26. The boys played hard and came out on top with a win, 53-50.
The Cubs got off to a great start. The boys got up to early leads of 13-7 and 25-17. But, Roland Story had some great outside shooters that eventually tied the game.
Coach Chris Hinson said, “We did a great job taking care of the ball as we only had nine turnovers to their 17. Our pressure defense definitely bothered them and was a key to the win.”
Trent Stahl had a great game and led the team with 21 points. Devin See followed with eight points, and Luke Merfeld with seven. The Cubs improved in rebounding with Luke Merfeld having six rebounds and Om’Unique Wilkerson with four.
