On Tuesday, January 30, the JV girls defeated Saydel at home. The girls played well and won 34-19. With this game, the Cubs improved their record to 14-5.

The Cubs were led by freshman Sydney Mosinski with 14 points. Sydney did an outstanding job rebounding, with several offensive rebounds off missed free throws.

“Sydney is really starting to show her athletic ability to get after a ball,” said Coach Mark Hersom. “Sydney is continuing to develop with great strides, and the future looks very bright for her.”

Junior Rylee Stevenson also played well, hitting a three pointer and scoring 10 points. Sophomore Megan Wessels also hit one three pointer and finished with five points. She was followed by sophomore Meredith Harter with three and Amelea Jones with two. Overall, the JV team continues to be tough to score against as they work on different defensive sets.

“Offense struggles at times but there have been changes up and down during the season, with freshman Addi Vorm moving up to varsity full time. The JV girls search for a playmaker but all have opportunities for their continued development,” Coach Hersom commented.

The JV girls basketball face Gilbert on the road this Friday.
