12.5 8th Grade Girls Basketball vs PCM

On December 5 the 8th grade girls basketball team played it’s only game in Central Elementary Gym, vs PCM. The Cubs won easily with the final score 35-21. The Cub’s jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back.

The greatest challenge for the Cubs was to attack PCM’s 2-3 zone defense. Coach Thompson was very pleased with the team’s execution of two different zone offenses and several called zone plays.

While all 15 players on the Cubs roster saw A-team action,the leading scorers for the Cubs were Elie Tuhn with 16 points, Ella Higgins with 6 points, Peyton Hanson with 4 points, Alex Arnaud with 3 points, and a basket each for McKinley Spaid, Maddie Dunham, and Mayzi Weig.

The A-team improved their season record to 5-2.

The 8th grade B-team executed their man-to-man defense to spark a 26-9 win. The top two scores for the Cubs were Makayla Spaid and Hannah Waldera with 6 points. Peyton Hanson scored 4 points, Savannah Skaggs and Tessa Borwick contributed 3 points each, and McKinley Spaid and Jessica Myers each chipped in two points. The B-team kept their perfect 6-0 season record intact.

Up next the Cubs is a rematch vs Gilbert on the December 11 in the Nevada Middle School Gym.
