Tony Neubauer is the head girls basketball coach. This year, Coach Neubauer will be going into his 17th year of coaching high school basketball and sixth year of being a head coach. Before he was a coach in Nevada, Neubauer was a head boys basketball coach in Arizona for four years. Coach Neubauer has had lots of experience with other sports, too. For instance, he’s coached football for the past 15 years, coached 16 years of track, two of those 16 years as a head coach. Hes also coached eight years of high school softball and three years of baseball as well.
Coach Neubauer loves being able to compete. He thinks every game is a chess match and loves the process of preparing for teams. He also enjoys working with young athletes.
Coach Hersom is the girls varsity assistant coach and head JV coach. When Hersom was 18 years old, he started coaching in Fort Dodge in the local youth leagues through the YMCA and churches. He has coached 20 of the past 29 years either in youth/AAU level. He has also coached in PCM for six years as a 7th and 8th girls basketball coach from 2008-2014. Before Hersom came to Nevada, he took two years off to watch his oldest daughter play high school sports at Southeast Polk.
In high school, Hersom played basketball for two years. This team had a lot of talent and used it to a state championship. Hersom loved being involved in basketball anyway possible.
Coach Hersom loves the ups and downs of every game and how you have to prepare for every game a little different. He likes having players set goals and strive to accomplish them.
Coach Scott Uthe coaches the 9th/JV-B team. This is his third year of coaching at Nevada. While Uthe was in high school, he participated in football, basketball and baseball. He loves seeing all the parts of the game come together with the kids. Coach Uthe always wanted to coach basketball. His favorite thing about coaching is encouraging healthy competition and making kids strive to improve themselves.
