The JV Cubs came out with yet another win this week, playing the Grinnell Tigers. Although they struggled offensively, they managed to trump the Tigers.
Coaches had positions playing more snaps than usual, because they were missing many key players they used in previous games. Due to that, it wasn’t until the third quarter when they began to move the ball and complete more passes. Kody Kruschwitz was able to throw to Ross Uthe for a touchdown. Anthony Ellis also caught a pass for a two-point conversion.
Defensively, the Cubs thrived. There were plenty of opportunities to capitalize on, and that’s exactly what the JV did. Anthony Ellis and Henry Nelson both had interceptions that they ran back for 6 points, (pick six). This really gave the team the momentum they needed to keep fighting. Defeating the Grinnell Tigers made the Cub’s JV team 5-1, and they have one last game against Norwalk
